Week 8

Dear Genevieve,
This has been a busy week for you.

You got your first round of immunizations - thank goodness they did both shots (one in each leg) at the same time. Daddy and I felt terrible for you - you yelled out and your whole head turned red as a tomato! But as soon as I fed you you felt better and went right to sleep:)

You have officially weighed in at 4.9 kilos - 10 1/2 pounds. And boy can we tell - you are getting heavy! You had your 8 week checkup and pediatrician visit this week! Very exciting :)

You also have grown length wise from 48 cm (18.9 inches) at birth to 55 cm (21.7 inches) now at 8 weeks! (And you seem to like the outfit I bought you when I was pregnant - I can't believe you fit in it already - wow!)

And of course your head circumference has grown as well (you do take after Mommy and Daddy after all:) from 35cm (13.8 inches) to 39 cm (15.4 inches)! We're sure it's all those brains that you're busy growing :)

You also saw lots of friends this week

Aunty Helen

Nicole

& Anna

You also love the moon & star Anna & Ali brought you from Italy. It encourages you to look to the right side of your crib as well (you like looking out of your crib usually - to the left).

All in all a great week:)
Love you lots,
Mama

Little Hands

Gotta love that baby chub :)

The only way we can see her fingers not in a fist - when she's sleeping. Here Murray is holding her hand out for a picture while she's asleep on me

Week 7

Dear Genevieve,
This week you turned 7 weeks old!
You are growing like crazy. I have officially packed away all of your newborn clothing now (you have moved into 000 in Australian sizes, 0-3 month in US sizes). You also have moved from newborn into infant nappies (diapers) - gosh you are growing quickly!

This week you also discovered your hand and you LOVE sucking on the side of your fist. It's a nice comfort just as you are calming down for sleep. When you wake up we often find you have sucked on your hand through your wrap, leaving a big wet spot on the wrap!

Unfortunately this week you also got your first cold. You are still a very happy baby, but you have SO much trouble getting to sleep because you are stuffed up. I'm really glad at this point you have a short memory, because I feel terrible when you cry as I clear out your nose:( But we have found that if I hold you for 10-15 minutes after falling asleep you get into that deep sleep and then I can put you down in your cot for a rest - whatever works!

And this is why it's so hard to get a photo of you on K-Bear, you are a wriggly worm!

We also have started doing a lot more tummy time this week. The little cloth under your chest helps you to prop up a bit and get your feet down to push at the the floor. They tell me this will help you learn to crawl.

You aren't a fan of tummy time though - you last quite happily for 5 minutes - sometimes more. But we will persevere to help you get nice and strong!

Hello spots! You love this toy so much - when we put it in front of you you start to coo at it!

You also love to pull yourself up. When I put you on my knees and give you a finger to grip in each hand you start straight away trying to pull yourself forward - my strong girl!

You are also smiling more & more. When I go to your cot to unwrap you after a sleep you look up at me with a HUGE grin. It is toooooooooooo cute :)

You also LOVE the zebra on your mobile that's hanging above the change table. When I lay you down you look up for the zebra and immediately start smiling and talking to him.

Love,
Mama

Daddy's Knee

Last week Murray had knee surgery
The swelling has come down a lot since this photo thankfully

But Genna is THRILLED to have him home while he's recovering

She loves a good cuddle with Daddy

I also got this box in the mail this week

It was a lovely gift box from Murray's work - with a card praising his hard work these past months and thanking me for my support

I especially love these socks - so so cute! Now - back to eating fruit!!

Trip to Nanna and Granddad's

Last weekend we took Genna on her first road trip - to see Nanna & Granddad
Hello Nanna!

And I FINALLY got a photo of her holding her thumb like I do!!! This is always how I make a fist - so amazing that she does the same thing :)

All tuckered out

And finally - a family pic!

Cute little yawn
Having fun in my travel cot!

Unfortunately the fancy cot I bought didn't work!! Even after the boys cut it open to examine the joints, it was just overmdesigned and broken - annoying!!! So Daddy popped out and bought a new one - which worked just fine.

We had a great time - she was an angel in the car and loved her cuddles with her grandparents.

All snug as a bug in her carseat - she slept SO well!!

When we got back to Manly we stopped by Ribs n' Rumps for lunch - Genna enjoyed the view

A few photos from our lunch out at a Manly cafe with Helen last weekend
Checking out what's going on

Oh hello Mommy!

Nice and relaxed......

I'm working on a triple chin!

Thanks to Helen for taking these great pics :)

Week 6

Dear Genevieve,
This week you turned 6 weeks old!
This week you figured out that when I swaddle you that means sleep time. I get you nice and comfy and tight in your wrap, then you close your eyes. So cute:)

Your neck is also getting stronger and stronger - you have started whipping your head from left to right to see what is going on!

We had a busy week out and about seeing friends - we are getting quite good at heading out in the stroller, eating out and about, and sometimes coming home in the baby bjorn!

This week at mothers group we weighed you clothed as well and you were a whopping 4.7 kilos (over 10 pounds). However, we have to minus a bit to account for clothing & your wrap :)

You have also really started making eye contact and mapping my face. I feel like you can really recognize me now which warms my heart.

We also did your first big road trip to Granddad and Nannas house - we had a wonderful time and you loved all the cuddles. You also were SO good in the car. On the way down (4 hour drive) we stopped twice when you woke up hungry. On the way back you only woke up upset once, and spent the rest of the time happily sleeping our looking around. You find the carseat SO relaxing which is great - I'm so proud of you for being SUCH a good girl :)

Love,
Mama

Happy 90th Grandma

I don't normally put Happy Birthday wishes on my blog, just because I'd feel terrible if I forgot someone! However, this is a milestone - so I wanted to wish a very Happy 90th Birthday to my Grandma Sally! In celebration - here are some of the quilts she has made over the years for us.

Me with my quilt handmade by Grandma, which unfortunately burnt in our house fire when I was in second grade. I'm so glad I have a photo of it though :)

Me & Murray with the quilt Gradma made us for our wedding!

Genevieve with the quilt made for her by her Great Grandma Sally.

I LOVE my quilt! YAY :)
